Standing on deck five, midst hitting my skin, I looked out over the water and watched the brilliant sun sink into the horizon. Vacations make you stop and notice things you usually don’t have time to see in the busyness of our daily routines, and this was one such moment.
Mesmerized by the sunset and the vastness of the ocean, I was reminded of God’s omnipotence. One of 2000 passengers on a massive ship, we were still just a speck in the ocean. Yet, He not only wants a relationship with each of us, He is jealous for our devotion and love.
I think that’s a major reason why so many people doubt His existence; that the God of the universe desires a one-on-one relationship with each individual human being. That’s astounding, amazing, awesome, wonderful…and true. Each Easter, I think back to the moment that Jesus became very real to me.
Standing in my parents’ dining room, I had a vision of Jesus on the Cross. I thought to myself, if He died for me, the least I could do was give my life to Him. At that point, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, my King, my Redeemer, Restorer, Lover of my soul, Friend, Helper, Comforter, my Rock.
As Easter draws closer, take some time to remember the moment you became a child of our omnipotent God. The moment your eternal destination was changed forever.
Psalm 145: 21 says, “I will praise the Lord and may everyone on earth bless his holy name forever and ever.”
