To the Girl Searching for “The One”,
My heart is with you, and I know exactly how you feel. It’s not easy celebrating those around you and their relationship milestones when deep down you wish you could have something to celebrate yourself. It isn’t the most exciting thing when it seems like everyone is constantly asking “Are you dating anyone?” And, it can be difficult to hold back absolute annoyance when the well-meaning people want to spend every ounce of their energy on setting you up with “someone who’d be perfect for you.” Sister, I’m with you, and I hope that I can tune you into a little secret.
There is one out there, and He would sacrifice everything He has to have you. He would give up everything just to show you how much He loves you. This one is The One, and the good news is that you don’t have to search any longer to find Him. He has actually been there all along pursuing you. He wants to take you on an adventure that no person could ever plan, He wants to protect you and hold on to you when you don’t think you can get through something, and He desperately wants to love you when you have no idea how to love yourself. There is only One who can love this wide, this deep, and this high. And, that One is Christ.
Now, I know what you’re thinking. “How cliché, I’ve heard this before,” but please hear me out. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve seen others take on relationships without ever pursuing their relationship with Christ. It pains me to see so many women compromising or settling all for the sake of having someone. There is nothing more important than walking into a relationship with Christ by your side walking with you. So, I beg you to transition your longings to the perfect Savior who loves you, because there is no one else who deserves your heart more than Him.
Let me pray for you today. Father, I thank you so much for your amazing, unfailing, and unchanging love. I pray that my sweet sister would rest and settle into the spaces of satisfaction and contentment. I pray that her contentment level would be so high with what Christ has done for her that when someone else comes along her heart will stand firm with Him and not settle or compromise. I pray that my sweet sister’s eyes would be opened to all the provision and blessing that You have placed right in front of her.
I pray that she will see that only You can truly satisfy the desires she holds dear. Only You can meet needs that we have no idea we even have. You will not fail us, leave us, or let us down. I pray that this sister’s desires will align with Yours and that she will recognize that Your timing and Your ways are perfect. There is no need for her or anyone else to manipulate or rush the plan, for You know.
Finally, I pray that as You brings each of us into any new seasons of life, that we will hold onto You and never let go because our desires to be loved will never outmatch Your desire to be loved by us. In Your name, Amen.
The One, Your One, is waiting for you!
