You fill in the blank. “But I’m too ___________.” What is it that is keeping you from stepping into what God is calling you to do? Are you too young? Too old? How about too inexperienced? Here’s a good one: I’m too messed up!

No matter what season of life you are in, you can always find an excuse as to why you cannot possibly do what you feel God has asked you to do! You see, that is such a generic tactic of the Enemy to keep you from breakthrough! If you give into that lie, not only do you cheat yourself, you miss out on what God wants to do in others through you.

My big lie has been that I am too young. The desires God has placed in my heart are quite overwhelming and seem almost unattainable for someone my age. How in the world can I possibly achieve what I feel called to do when I lack the years of experience (and knowledge that comes along with that) as those I currently see in those positions? Well, do you want to know God’s answer to me? He gently said, “I created you for a specific purpose; just as I’ve given purpose to the ones you’re comparing yourself to. Quit questioning me and trust. Walk with me and take one step at a time.”

He then began surrounding me with examples of others who are young in their fields, pointing out several Biblical references of those who were young but faithful, and even had someone else share with me her concern that she believes she is too old to fulfill her passion! Isn’t that something?! Here I am pining away because I think I’m too young while someone else is doing the same because she is too old! Do you see what’s going on here?! We are being duped! When our Father provides us with purpose, He equips us as well! We don’t have to worry about what we lack because He provides all of our needs!

So here’s what I want you to do:

1) Take some time and ask God what lie you’ve allowed to keep you from fulfilling your purpose!

2) Ask Him to give you the truth. This could come through reading His Word, speaking with another person, quiet meditation, worship, etc.

3) Now ask Him what your next step will be! Remember, all you have to do is take one step at a time!

4) Wait on Him! If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s to wait on God to lead the way! His timing, NOT ours!

5) Enjoy your walk with Him!

Now get out there and live the life God meant for you to live!
